Make an effort before you step into the fire-lit, art-lined Rose Bar this spring. Chances are the waitresses are better dressed than you.
Womenswear duo Cushnie et Ochs have designed a sexy new uniform for the wait staff of the Gramercy Park Hotel’s red-hued rumpus room: a V-necked LBD with a triangular peek-a-boo at the abdomen, in the style of their pre-fall 2014 collection.
“It’s the ultimate Little Black Dress—sexy, sleek and demure,” co-designer Michelle Ochs told Women’s Wear Daily. “Rose Bar is one of the sexiest rooms in New York City and such a great venue to showcase our clothes,” added her business partner Carly Cushnie.
A Julian Schnabel-curated landing point for celebs launching books and Fashion Week folk seeking a low-key afterparty, the Rose Bar has commissioned frocks from two other minimalist favorites in the past: Narciso Rodriguez’ black spaghetti-string halter slips in 2006, and Sophie Theallet’s scarlet wrap dresses in 2012, in a treated silk that waitresses could wipe their hands on.
