Amy Rose Spiegel, a staff writer at Rookie, has been named associate editor at BuzzFeed Music. Ms. Spiegel, who literally graduated from college yesterday, will  start "building out the vertical and putting a unique BuzzFeed stamp on the music world" in January.

"I'm so excited to start at BuzzFeed. I'm looking to help create a place on the Internet where all types of music fans can get excited about what they love, since I feel so many online conversations surrounding music are kind of narrow and exclusive," Ms. Spiegel wrote in an email. "At BuzzFeed Music, I want readers to feel at home whether they're obsessed with One Direction or the Silver Jews (or both, like me)."

At Rookie, Tavi Gevinson's website for teenage girls with a cult-like following, Ms. Spiegel wrote about music, sex, drugs and body acceptance. She also hosted a makeup video tutorial and was a fixture at the magazine's New York events. Ms. Spiegel also wrote one of the first posts on Rookie when it launched--a long-form piece about her love for The Smiths. She has written for BuzzFeed in the past.

"It’s been a challenge to find the right addition to BuzzFeed Music, but I think Amy Rose is the perfect fit," said BuzzFeed music editor  Matthew Perpetua. "She's genuinely excited about music and the people who make it. She's got an original, imaginative voice, endless curiosity and will bring a lot to this project, and to music journalism in general."
And don't worry, Rookie fans, Ms. Spiegel will stay on as a staff writer despite her new gig at BuzzFeed.
