It was a distinctly monochrome scene at the New Museum of Contemporary Art Wednesday night, where members gathered for the third annual White Party. The clean, minimalist design of the museum– with its soaring ceilings and, yes, white walls and floors– provided the perfect backdrop for the festivities, as party goers flaunted their best all white looks.
The dress code was taken very seriously– splashes of color in the crowd were scare (most often a rouge handbag, or a shock of dyed hair). Instead it was a sea of clean white linens, t-shirts, jumpsuits, high top sneakers and dresses.
While DJs Heavenly Beats and TEEN commanded the bottom and top floors, guests were free to mingle the galleries of the museum in between and view the new Roberto Cuoghi, Ragnar Kjartansson, and Camille Henrot exhibitions.
“White is just so right at New Museum” said one guest on the rooftop terrace. The city skyline glittered behind her. “You feel like one of the works of art.”
