Too bad they were a week late and a gold dollar short of having it for St. Patty’s day.
A 37-year-old Greenpoint resident returned home to find his five-gallon jug containing thousands of dollars in coins missing from his apartment last Sunday.
The jug was one-third of the way full and contained anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000 in mostly quarters, DNAinfo reported.
Assuming the 12,000 to 20,000 coins that filled the pot were all quarters, the loot most likely weighed 150 to 250 pounds.
The victim reportedly left the door to his home unlocked and ajar when leaving for the store around 8:50 p.m. He returned less than an hour later to discover he’d been robbed of his riches.
Either these thieves got lucky or they followed the rainbow right to this guy’s apartment.
