Fashion Week Satisfaction Scorecard: Vivienne Tam

As much as we love Fashion Week, anyone who has ever been to the shows will tell you that it’s not an easy stroll down the tents. Instead, you have to contend with late start times, harried ticket scanners, dying electronics (due to lack of outlets at Lincoln Center/Eyebeam), and a myriad of other FW-related crises. In that spirit, we’re covering this season’s Fashion Week with YOU in mind, sending our intrepid reporters out to cover the important aspects of the shows…well, the ones that have nothing to do with the clothes.

Name: Molly

Date: Feb. 9

Show/Party name: Vivienne Tam

Listed start time: 6:30

Actual start time: 6:50ish?

Notable personalities in attendance (please list):

Ty Hunter, Beyoncé's stylist. We could see Queen Bey in this sheer, gothy number.

Angela Simmons of Run's House fame. She had on a black bra and underwear with a see through dress over it. Daring. She pulled it off. She's got pluck.

Kelly Rutherford of Gossip Girl fame. She was looking very Upper East Side in a black and white shift.

Sarita Choudhury of Homeland. She brought her preteen daughter backstage. This is a dicey move, but the kid was too cute for us to get offended.

1. How would you rate your experience at the event?

1   2    3    4  5

Comments: The models first walked out to a delightfully girly cover of "Venus in Furs." The clothes were '70s groupie chic, which happens to be this reporter's favorite aesthetic. Anita Pallenberg and Pattie Boyd would have been proud.

2. Quality of service (Ushers, ticket scanners, etc.,):

1  2   3  4   5

Comments: "Where is your pass!" one usher berated our passless ass. "You must have a pass!"

"Where do I get one?"

"*sigh*... Just go in."

Okay, then.

3. Attention to detail (Gift bags, runway set, clothes):

1  2  3  4  5

Comments: The setup was pretty standard, with a giant stretched out, pixelly psychedelic image (inspired by China's Danhuang caves, as the entire line was) projected behind the catwalk. The backdrop felt last minute. The gratis boho chic iPhone cases were cute.

4. Overall consumer satisfaction (based on the qualities you were able to observe from attendees):

1  2  3  4  5

Comments: The crowd looked bored, in a way that made it seem like they were striving to look bored; our seatmates had all come down with a case of the try-too-hards. This was a shame, because the collection was fun and whimsical.

5. Additional comments: Ms. Tam is a sweetie and we'd love to get our hands on a few pieces from her new $200 to $400 bag line, which debuted at the show. The clothes weren't revolutionary, but anyone with a bohemian streak will find them dreamy.
