Eagles bassist and singer Timothy B. Schmit was just given a clean bill of health after a throat and neck cancer scare, and what better way to celebrate than by buying a condo on the Upper West Side? The Schmit Family Trust Dated May 18, 1994 (these lawyers really do have a way with words) just picked up a two-bedroom apartment near Lincoln Square, according to city records.
The California native—in fact, the only Californian in the band that produced the hit "Hotel California"—and/or his family are the proud new owners of the two-bedroom, 2.5-bath unit which, based on the listing photos, doesn't appear to have been renovated since the building spread its wings in 1995.
Try telling this guy that one day he'll own a $3.2 million condo.
The sellers, William and Leigh Duff, picked up the unit in 2001 for $1.47 million in the asymmetrical building, designed to look like a number of separate structures from the street level. The Lincoln Square building is just two miles north of Madison Square Garden, where Mr. Schmit will be performing with Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Joe Walsh.
The 14th-floor unit (which is probably actually on the 13th floor) at 150 Columbus Avenue was originally asking $3.1 million, but after a month on the market, a contract was signed for $3.2 million, with the Schmit family "Feed[ing] the Fire" of an ultra-hot real estate market.
