Pilar Guzmán will become the new editor-in-chief of Condé Nast Traveler, Condé announced today. The move is a homecoming of sorts for Ms. Guzmán, who has been the vice president and editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Living since 2011. Ms. Guzmán was the founding editor in chief of Cookie, Condé's since-shuttered parenting mag.
“Condé Nast Traveler has a discerning following of avid travelers who appreciate its engaging features, thoughtful advice and stunning visuals,” Ms. Guzmán said in a memo to staff that went out this evening. “I look forward to working with the Condé Nast Travelerteam and particularly, to drawing upon the insights and vision of the Company’s artistic director Anna Wintour to catapult this legendary brand.”

New York, NY – August 14, 2013: Charles H. Townsend, chief executive officer, and Robert A. Sauerberg, Jr., president, of Condé Nast, today named Pilar Guzmán editor-in-chief of Condé Nast Traveler, effective September 3rd.

Previously, Ms. Guzmán served as vice president and editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Living where she was responsible for the editorial direction of the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia flagship since March 2011. Under her direction, this year the publication earned a National Magazine Award in General Excellence in the lifestyle category.
From 2005 to 2009, Ms. Guzmán worked for Condé Nast as the founding editor-in-chief of Cookie, an award-winning parenting magazine targeting young, style-conscious parents. Ms. Guzmán has also served as senior editor at Real Simple, as executive editor of One, as design and architecture editor at City magazine and as a contributor to TheNew York Times, I.D., Metropolis, Wallpaper, and Marie Claire. She launched her career in journalism writing a travel guide to Italy before working as a food critic and lifestyle writer for the New York Daily News. Ms. Guzmán succeeds Klara Glowczewska, who will leave Condé Nast after many successful years of service.
