Rupert Murdoch has filed for divorce from his wife Wendi this morning, reports Deadline. Mr. Murdoch filed this morning in New York Supreme Court.
Mr. Murdoch's split from his wife comes in advance of News Corp.'s split. Maybe Ms. Murdoch will get Pub Co. in the settlement.
Or not. Deadline now reports that "the divorce will not impact Murdoch’s media holdings." Murdoch will still control both companies.
Last year, New York Times reporter Amy Chozick—who got a copy of the divorce filing—wrote a profile of Ms. Murdoch that noted she "has emerged with her own independent career and has immersed herself in a social circle that...is often free of her husband’s presence."
Tweets confirmed the news and express the general sense of "WHAT?!" across the Internet.
