The Daily News officially named Raakhee Mirchandani as the managing features editor today. The post was previously held by John Oswald, who left the News in March.
"I am delighted to announce that Raakhee Mirchandani is to be our new Managing Editor, Features," Daily News editor in chief Colin Myler wrote in a newsroom email.
"Raakhee has been a driving force behind the features department and I‘m sure you will congratulate her on her much-deserved promotion. Also, most of you know by now that Jennifer Fermino is our new City Hall bureau chief after joining us from the Post. Congratulations to both."
As we reported last month, Ms. Mirchandani, who was the fashion editor and deputy features editor, had been assigning, editing and managing the features section and it was widely assumed that she the top spot was hers for the taking.
Ms. Mirachandani was a veteran of the Post, the News' rival tabloid, where she was a fashion reporter and fashion/beauty columnist before decamping to Boston where she did a stint as the associate editor and a columnist at the Boston Herald.
