Forget performing at the Olympics' closing ceremony, having nearly eleven million Twitter followers or selling out massive concert venues. We argue that One Direction didn’t really achieve international celebrity until this week, when it was announced that the British pop group would have their likenesses displayed at none other than THE Madame Tussauds.
The life-size figures (can we call them “Wax Direction”?) will be on display at Times Square's Madame Tussauds from July 19th to October 11th. If you work anywhere in the vicinity of the museum, which is at 43rd Street and 8th Ave., we recommend you plan your commute accordingly. (In other words, prepare to haul yourself through hordes of screaming tweenage girls all vying for a glimpse of Harry Styles’s waxy visage).
