Fancy foodies converge from all coasts for the “family-style” (we just got a queasy Olive Garden commercial flashback) feast at the Friends of James Beard Benefit. The Sunday supper—how proper!—will pad your ribs with dishes by Masaharu Morimoto of Morimoto, Amy Scherber of Amy’s Bread, and Yang Huang and Brian Ray of Buddakan, to name a few. But all that gluttony will also raise funds for the James Beard Foundation’s Scholarship for Fulton Youth of the Future at Robert Fulton Houses, as well as for Wellness in the Schools. That was a bigger mouthful than the bites of gourmet grub we plan on shoveling into our mouths.
